Mission
We are a team of professionals dedicated to the engineering industry to assess the safe use, feasible construction, and proper care of buildings and structures. We design, inspect, investigate, and test as needed to determine the long-term structural integrity and maintainability of components or buildings. We enjoy working hard with other professionals and the families in our neighborhoods to improve our community - one structure at a time. We are blessed with the many talents of our people and we will always be mindful of serving God in our efforts.
History
In 1985, Mike and Ann Leonard returned to Charlotte, NC after 12 years away in school and at their first career jobs in Seattle, WA and Knoxville / Oak Ridge, TN. They founded M.H. Leonard Construction Co, Inc. (MHLCCI) and began their own engineering practice. For the next 17 years, the company built or renovated over 500 houses, office buildings, restaurants, and other facilities in 5 states. MHLCCI became known as a fine custom builder while the engineering work started to grow rapidly with high demand in the housing and commercial segment.
In 2003, with practical field knowledge and thorough experience in construction, a separate engineering firm formed, M.H. Leonard Consulting Engineers, PA (MHLCE) - serving other builders/contractors, architects, designers, real estate and insurance professionals, and attorneys in the structural engineering and construction field. MHLCCI would continue too, but then to become specialized in structural repairs, construction management disciplines, and consulting.
Today, the professionals at MHLCE have completed over 7000 projects* of various sizes - including inspections, designs, forensic studies, failure analyses, estimates, and legal cases in 3 states. We have been blessed with good people and many great clients that have learned to trust us in a growing and changing field. Our continuing goal is to offer practical solutions to the complex construction industry.
